Manchester has been shortlisted to become European Capital of Youth in 2018. We are the only UK city ever to be shortlisted, the other European cities are Cascais (Portugal), Kecskemet (Hungary), Novi Sad (Serbia), and Perugia (Italy). Manchester City Council who are leading on the bid held a ‘think-in’ discussion event at Contact theatre where the city’s youth groups were invited to put forward their views as to what young people would like to see happen for a youth festival for the entire city. It was great for WYC to interact and discuss ideas with other youth collectives and think just what Manchester could achieve.
