WYC Summer Party

DSC_0224 To celebrate International Youth Day, WYC had a party! We invited our Manchester youth partners to join us for an evening of music, workshops and shenanigans in our art garden. Drumroots kicked us of in fine form with the Gallery staff and the youth collective working together to create some brilliant rhythmic beats which reverberated all around the garden. Bella and Helen from the WYC led workshops in bike stitching and wind chime soundsculptures, Whitworth on fire were wowing us with their circus skills, DJ Ruddy manned the Decks in fine style and Jamil was ‘King of the Lemons’ running a hilarious lemon jousting game… watch the video below! There was music and performance from KYSO youth group (talented singers led by Kemoy Walker), our good friends Young Identity made our spines tingle with their beautiful spoken word poetry and Manchester’s Kid Katharsis finished off proceedings with a headline set.  A huge thankyou to Unity FM who were broadcasting their weekly NGY youth show live from the event. Phew… did we mention facepainting??
