For our very first event WYC collaborated with Allsorts, the youth music collective from Z-arts for a video themed event called ‘Videonation’. The evening was a hive of activity with interactive arts workshops, live music, conversation and general good vibes.
WYC curated the cafe space and upper foyer in Z-arts, using projections, installations and music to transform the venue. With liquid oil projections, interactive film, time lapsed video installations plus shadow projections that created a wonderful ambience and backdrop. Other workshops included ‘Glitch Stitch’ a giant interactive woven photograph, ‘God or Google’ a performance art game where the audience member walked into a dramatic space and was asked a series of intriguing questions and live screen printing.
Allsorts premiered their music video ‘Pennies and Pounds’ and performed the track live before other ensembles including our very own Ruby on lead vocals in the band ‘Elbow on the whammy bar’. WYC programmed performances from young musicians at Band on the Wall’s youth group Brighter Sound including beautiful acoustic and acapella performances, as well as some surprise impromptu performances from Moss Sides Manchesterstarz!
